Field measurements in KGHM Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine

A group of researchers from the Digital Mining Center team conducted measurements in the Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine on October 27 and 31, 2022.

Poland’s Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine is a modern mine that extracts copper ore, silver, and salt. The mine’s industrial copper ore reserves (as of December 31, 2017) amount to 373 million tons. The main mining areas where mining operations are conducted are: “Polkowice”, “Radwanice East”, “Sieroszowice” and “Gaworzyce”.
The purpose of the visit was to collect 3D data of selected tunnel sections using a laser scanner, digital camera, and LiDAR sensors.
The measurements were performed as part of the AMICOS, ECHO, and VOT3D EIT Raw Materials projects
