On Friday, April 25, 2025, the rich history and beautiful customs of Czech mining were proudly celebrated.
Professor Radosław Zimroz was invited to attend the 136th edition of the traditional “Skok přes kůži” (Jump over the Leather), an annual event co-organized by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. During the official ceremony, and after fulfilling all the customary rituals, Professor Zimroz was formally inducted into the Czech mining community.
On April 16, 2025, at the initiative of Professor Jerzy Detyna, Director of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PWr) Branch in Wałbrzych, a meeting took place between representatives of the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology (WGGG) of PWr (Dean of the Faculty, Professor Radosław Zimroz, and Dr. Magdalena Worsa-Kozak) and the Mayor of Wałbrzych (Mr. Roman Szełemej), Deputy Mayor (Mr. Kacper Nogajczyk), representatives of the Center for Science, Culture, and Art “Stara Kopalnia” (Centrum Nauki i Sztuki Stara Kopalnia) in Wałbrzych (Mr. Jan Jędrasik – Director, Ms. Wioletta Wrona-Gaj – Head of the Museum of Industry and Technology), as well as the President of the Szczawno-Jedlina Health Resort (Mr. Krzysztof Urbański).
The highly promising discussions focused on joint initiatives to promote the mining industry and the preparation of R&D projects, and continued into the late afternoon. The visit also included a tour of the “Stara Kopalnia” in Wałbrzych and the Health Resort in Szczawno-Zdrój, providing an opportunity to better understand the challenges faced by these institutions. This collaboration holds great potential, and both sites impress with their rich mining heritage and grandeur!
Last week, we at Digital Mining Center had the pleasure of organising and hosting the consortium meeting in Wrocław 🇵🇱. Over three dynamic days, partners gathered at the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology of Wrocław University of Science and Technology for technical discussions, planning the following milestones for the innovative autonomous mineral exploration robotic tool and field visit to a drilling site.
The mission? To develop a compact robotic system that can explore deep boreholes, detect critical raw materials in real time, and seamlessly integrate data into a digital twin of the deposit – all while enhancing safety and reducing environmental impact.
