We are happy to announce the success of the VOT3D Summer School, organised by MNLT Innovations PC. The event took place on 15-16 July 2024 in Athens.
VOT3D, funded by EIT RawMaterials, brings autonomous flying robots to the mining industry to improve the design of underground ventilation systems, leading to a safer working environment and reduced environmental impact and operational costs.
The Summer School provided insights from leading experts from academia and industry, including lectures from our invited speakers on various topics related to the mining industry. These topics included 3D surveying, data processing and 3D modelling, ventilation in underground environments, safety in mining, life-cycle assessment, and the business view on mining.
The speakers included:
- Jan Kąkol from ABB
- Paweł Trybała from Fondazione Bruno Kessler – FBK
- Arkadiusz Macek and Paulina Kujawa from Wrocław University of Science and Technology
- Patryk Kucharczyk from KGHM CUPRUM sp. z o.o. – Research and Development Centre
- Vasiliki Alexiou from MNLT Innovations PC
At the end of the meeting, a demo session was held, during which representatives from FBK and WUST presented the underground mine scanning measurement equipment designed as part of the project.
A big thank you to all partners and especially to the speakers for participating in the VOT3D Summer School and sharing their research and insights!
